Dryland Activity: Skateboarding

Welcome to shred town...

I've been skateboarding since I was 10, and it is still one of my favorite summertime activities. It's challenging in many of the same ways skiing is. Generating speed, matching transitions, sliding rails and lots of other maneuvers on a skateboard have a direct correlation to skiing and snowboarding.

The best way to learn is just to get out there and do it. Borrow a board from a friend, find a patch of flat cement and have at it! Bellow I'll post a few "how to       " edits, but in all fairness, they aren't too helpful. Talk to your friends who skate and ask if you can tag along with them, I guarantee they'll say yes.

For those of you who are skaters, keep at it. Try new tricks and push yourself to be better. Both street and park skating are beneficial for riding, so make sure to switch it up.

http://www.how2skate.com/  is a great site for people just getting into the sport and for those who have been skating forever. For those new to skating, look at the Guides and Tips for the basics. For more experienced skaters, check out Skateboarding Tricks if you're trying something new.

Check out this website (http://www.concretedisciples.com/skateparksdb/skateparks.php) for a list of skateparks. This is not a perfect list, so don't get discouraged if there isn't one near you. Check Google and talk to other skaters to find the best and closest parks to you.

That's it for now. I'll post edits and movies to get your stoke up so search Shred Flicks for more videos.
